Company History
Fleetwood Management, LLC is the real estate management company founded by the fourth generation of the Taylor family. It is a small family owned business, which began with George G. Taylor an Irish immigrant. With a willingness to work (as a furnace stoker at the Moses Brown School) and skills in a variety of areas he achieved the American dream of owning his own business (horse cart hauler/deliveryman) and home.
From the late 1800’s he built his delivery business and was involved in purchasing real estate as an outside investment. Family tradition has it that his teams of horses and wagons hauled dirt away from the East Side bus tunnel excavations. Some years later this morphed into a motorized trucking company with a fleet of vehicles on the road under lease to a variety of major RI businesses in a wide range of industries. This business experience along with his interest in real estate saw him venture into building small “spec” houses on the East side of Providence and re-habbing older properties with his sons and daughter.
In the 1950’s the trucking company had grown to a regional business and real estate development was becoming a major focus for the family. The trucking company was sold and George G. Taylor Junior along with his son Robert Taylor then focused on real estate development. The family has built several apartment complexes and acquired other multi-unit properties which are located throughout the state and managed by Robert‘s children.
